Designed and manufactured by Albert Jagger as far back as 1953, Antiluce™ Fasteners are a staple product within the company which has seen vast success over the years. More than 15,000 are produced by Albert Jagger every week, and our manufacturing capabilities mean that we can make fasteners in a wide variety of sizes and finishes to suit the requirements of our customers. But what exactly are Antiluce™ Fasteners, and for which applications are they best suited?

So… What are Antiluce™ Fasteners?

These easy-to-use and robust fasteners are one-piece components which can either be bolted or welded on to create an ideal joining between vehicle objects, perfect for securing loads.

They feature captive moveable cotters which are able to slide in and out of a locked position, which dispenses the need for loose cotters and chains. Its ergonomic design means that rattling and vibrations, which can cause unwanted noise that may even loosen the fitting, are prevented.

Additionally, the low number of moving parts present in our Antiluce™ Fasteners means that fastening remains quick and reliable.

Fasteners Perfect for a Variety of Different Applications

Initially, Antiluce™ Fasteners were designed to ensure vehicle dropsides remain secure, however these fasteners are now very capable in a wide range of applications covering all industries, including:

Road Signs

Construction

Marine

Commercial Vehicles

Packing Cases

… and more!

There are also a variety of different finishes available for our Antiluce™ Fasteners, so you can choose the right style for the occasion. These include:

Stainless Steel – A sleek and shiny finish with great rust and corrosion resistance.

Geomet – Has an easily paintable, metallic grey finish with great resistance to damages, whether it be chemical or mechanical, as well as electrical conduction capabilities.

Zinc Plated with JS500 Topcoat – Ideal for preventing corrosion with a JS500 topcoat to prolong the life of the zinc plated finish.

Black Passivated – An attractive black finish ideal for preventing corrosion and friction.

What makes our Antiluce™ Fasteners stand out from the rest?

Now that the manufacturing of our Antiluce™ Fasteners has been reshored back to Britain, we are able to ensure the highest quality when it comes to our Antiluce™ Fasteners, through manufacture at our engineering facility. This means that our fasteners have numerous desirable properties, such as weather and corrosion resistance, meaning they are able to thrive in even the harshest conditions.

If you are interested in our Antiluce™ Fasteners, or any of the other vehicle parts and commercial vehicle fittings we have available for offer, you can fill out our enquiry form on our contact page, or get in touch via telephone at 01922 471 000, or by email at sales@albertjagger.co.uk.

Midlands manufacturer of commercial vehicle engineering and industrial hardware is reshoring component production from China.

Bloxwich-based MIM member Albert Jagger Engineering, which has been producing metal components for more than 70 years, has reshored production of almost a quarter of a million fastening components and has, in some cases, reduced costs by up to 50%.

An SME team from the Coventry-based Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) worked with Albert Jagger to transform its factory.

The team of 11 MTC engineers produced a new factory layout, introduced new technology including CNC machines and automation, and re-trained staff using virtual and augmented reality.

As a result of this, the manufacturer was able to produce fastening components previously been imported from China for between 20 and 50% of the cost. On top of this, they have slashed stockholding costs by 50% and created space in the factory for future growth.

Magnus McFarlane, Lead Advisor with the MTC’s transformation team, said: “The management team at Albert Jagger has delivered an amazing transformation – visually, culturally and technologically. Their strategy of re-shoring production is one that a number of UK businesses may be considering, and at Albert Jagger, they have created an agile facility and a resilient supply chain.”

Albert Jagger’s chief executive Garth Cooper added: “Our work with the MTC has been truly transformational. We’ve invested in our factory and in new technologies, we have taken on staff and improved the skills of our existing employees. We are already seeing the benefits of our strategy to re-shore and recently secured 200,000 units of the product originally outsourced to China.”

Albert Jagger supplies products to a range of automotive companies including commercial vehicle manufacturers, agriculture, construction, rail, medical, aerospace, and emergency services.

The MTC Manufacturing Support Services team has worked with more than 500 SMEs, and at any one time has more than 150 live projects.

The MTC aims to provide a competitive environment to bridge the gap between university-based research and the development of innovative manufacturing solutions, in line with the Government’s manufacturing strategy. The MTC is part of the High-Value Manufacturing Catapult, supported by Innovate UK.

In the heart of the UK's industrial Midlands, Albert Jagger Ltd stands as a dynamic anomaly. Dating back to 1887, this resilient enterprise has masterfully blended its rich heritage with relentless innovation, establishing a competitive edge in the industrial and transport hardware market. Evolving from crafting horse-carriage parts to supplying components for modern aerospace and yellow goods machinery (to name a few), Albert Jagger Ltd's journey is a powerful testament to adaptability and an unwavering commitment to its people.

The Power of Proximity: Bespoke Solutions, British Quality

Albert Jagger Ltd’s competitive advantage is rooted in its integrated UK operations, maintaining a manufacturing hub in Walsall with advanced CNC capabilities and metal pressing. This allows the company to control the entire process, from concept to delivery. The in-house design team serves as a dedicated problem-solver, capable of delivering highly bespoke, single-unit solutions for niche clients while simultaneously supplying massive volumes to global OEMs.

This localised, end-to-end control appeals deeply to major clients who prioritise British-made quality and sustainability. Albert Jagger Ltd Group Commercial Director Ashley Heath highlights this focus, noting, "The customer doesn't have to adapt their product to suit what we offer, we adapt what we offer to suit their product." This commitment to customisation is possible because, as Ashley continues, "Manufacturing in the UK means that we're flexible, can control quality, reduce lead times, and tailor the product to the exact requirements of the customer." The company further ensures service excellence by managing customer inventory through systems like KanBan stock management.

Eliminating Silos: The Collaborative Edge

Innovation at Albert Jagger Ltd is a living, breathing part of the culture. The management team initiated a fundamental shift by dismantling traditional office silos, merging the commercial, sales, purchasing, and accounts teams into one open space. This move ensures collaboration is instantaneous and relentless—eliminating bottlenecks and improving communication.

This physical proximity is key to their success in the complex transport sector. Sales teams, designers, and engineers are constantly communicating and will often travel to client sites together. This collaborative approach ensures that technical challenges—like reducing vehicle weight or adapting designs to new materials—are solved rapidly and efficiently, making Albert Jagger Ltd a partner in innovation, not just a supplier. The result? A consistent, upward growth trajectory driven by an energised and unified workforce.

Nurturing the Future: Investing in Young Blood

The company’s most defining trait may be its profound commitment to the next generation, ensuring the continuation of vital UK manufacturing skills. Albert Jagger Ltd champions a robust apprenticeship program across all areas of the business, from finance and commercial roles to the highly specialised skill of tool-making.

They view apprentices as long-term investments, not cheap labour. Each apprentice is given real responsibilities, mentorship from long-serving staff (some with 40+ years of experience), and a clear path to a permanent job. This focus on nurturing talent secures the company’s future and ensures that technical knowledge is passed down, fostering the unique "family vibe" and low staff turnover that define Albert Jagger Ltd.

Albert Jagger Ltd is more than a manufacturer; it’s a dynamic group where every individual works in concert to solve problems and drive forward the legacy of British engineering.

In celebration of 135 years of business, we look back on what Albert Jagger has done for the transport, industrial and marine industries.

Knowledge

Since our foundation in 1887, Albert Jagger has been associated with innovation, excellent service, and the highest quality products for vehicles of all types. With 135 years of history, we wouldn’t be in the position we are if we hadn’t looked after and listened to our customers. We continue to work with our customers to ensure we have a deep understanding of the ever-changing industries.

Innovation

We have been championing innovation and forward thinking to push the boundaries of what we can achieve. One of the ways we maintain our position as market leaders is by trying new things and thinking outside the box.

Over the years we have designed some revolutionary products, including the Antiluce™ fastener, a staple product which has seen vast success over the years. Originally designed for the dropside vehicle market, Antiluce™ fasteners are now used in a wide range of applications, covering all industries.

Centaflex is another innovative concept by Albert Jagger, developed taking full advantage of the latest advances in new materials and manufacturing technology. A stylish, one-piece, continuous hinge manufactured with lightweight, flexible PVC, offering many advantages over conventional continuous hinges currently on the market.

Going beyond expectations, CentaFlow, a wind powered rotary ventilator, was designed by Albert Jagger to deliver superior results, whilst maintaining high quality without compromising on performance.

British-Made

To future-proof the business, Albert Jagger decided to team up with the Manufacturing Technology Centre back in 2019 to deploy 5S, lean and six sigma to bring the manufacture of products, back to Britain.

Following widespread disruption over recent years, the impact on the supply chain has resulted in delayed deliveries, stalled production, and price increases.

By reshoring back to the UK, Albert Jagger have been able to create jobs, reduce lead times, lower carbon footprint, and provide continuity of supply through flexible production.

Apart from all the above, what has Albert Jagger ever done for us?

Albert Jagger have recently completed the successful integration of Safe Assist, a trailer ramp system, on a beavertail vehicle at MIS Conversions, a leading fleet conversion specialist in the UK.

Offering a range of services from vehicle design and build to custom conversions for various vehicle types, MIS Conversions are a trusted name in the UK’s fleet conversion industry. With 88,000 square foot of production space, the conversion specialists have established themselves as leaders in the field, renowned for their commitment to quality and adherence to industry standards, including VCA guidelines and ISO 9001 certification.

One of the vehicle types they excel in converting, is the Beavertail vehicle. Finding applications in multiple industries, Beavertails are versatile with their unique design allowing for easy loading and unloading of vehicles and equipment.

Operating the rear platform loading ramp is essential to the functionality of the vehicle but poses difficulties due to weight and physical strain required to open and close them. To address these challenges and improve the efficiency and safety of the vehicle, MIS sought an innovative solution from Albert Jagger.

Safe Assist is an innovative, patent pending, trailer ramp system revolutionising the industry.

Reduced Weight – Uniformed weight distribution eliminates the physical strain of opening and closing ramp doors, making them easier to raise and lower, enhancing stability.

Enhanced Safety – A fully concealed design, eliminating the need for dangerous cables and torsion springs that can snap or create tripping hazards, reducing accidents and injuries.

Corrosion Resistance – Utilising an aluminium exterior ensures corrosion resistance, extending the systems lifespan.
• Reduced Downtime – Removes the need for ramp door repairs.

On the road to excellence

The successful integration of Safe Assist was a collaborative effort between Albert Jagger and MIS Conversions, from assessment through to installation. The project not only improved the efficiency and safety of beavertail vehicles but also reinforced the commitment of both companies to providing quality solutions to the transport industry.

Safe Assist is paving the way for a safer and more efficient future in the trailer industry. For more information on how it can benefit your trailer operations, get in touch today.
